£5,000 Reward Offered to Find the Right Site for Manchester Based Timber Merchants
Manchester, UK (PRWEB) January 28, 2009 -- There are few upbeat stories in the building industry at the moment but Manchester based Timber Merchant, J Cavanagh Ltd (http://www.cavanaghtimbersupplies.co.uk/), is optimistic about the future with the opening of their new 1.5 acre timber sales depot in Winsford, Cheshire.
After struggling to find the perfect site for their new branch, J Cavanagh Ltd's founder, Bill Cavanagh, came up with the idea of placing an advert in a local paper offering a reward of £5000 for anyone who could help. It attracted lots of interest and soon an old colleague got in touch to say he'd found the ideal location in Winsford - it turned out he was spot on.
Overwhelming public demand has since forced the new Bradford Road site to open for business to trade and DIY customers early, despite the fact that the official opening day is on the 1st February, 2009.
When asked about the bold decision, Managing Director, John Cavanagh, said, "Ironically, the Cavanagh family's traditional timber business began in Winsford 25 years ago. The Winsford branch changed hands over a decade ago but local customers have always asked us when we're planning on reviving the original Cavanagh service, unaware that there hadn't been a connection in all that time! It was this public demand for the Cavanagh quality of service and value for money that finally inspired us to start looking for premises to reinstate Cavanagh's in Winsford. We're delighted to be going back!"
Cavanagh's will be one of the few merchants to stock 'off the shelf' C24 grade building timbers in the area. Stocking the full range of C24 carcassing and a varied range of planed timber and sheet materials, the new site will provide a much needed timber merchants and supply centre for the people of North Cheshire.
John Cavanagh said, "Given that property prices have plummeted, we're noticing a distinct increase in the number of DIY customers who want to extend or add value to their existing properties. We're offering a raft of special deals in 2009 to make that as affordable as possible for home owners in the area."
Currently trading as Fallowfield Timber Supplies (http://cavanaghtimbersupplies.co.uk/index.php/Fallowfield-Timber.html) in Manchester and Macclesfield Timber Supplies (http://cavanaghtimbersupplies.co.uk/index.php/Macclesfield-Timber.html) in Macclesfield, J Cavanagh Ltd hopes that Cavanagh's of Winsford - Timber Merchants (http://cavanaghtimbersupplies.co.uk/index.php/Cavanaghs-for-Timber-Cheshire.html) will emulate the ongoing success of the other branches.

About Cavanagh Timber Merchants Ltd
W Cavanagh (Timber) Ltd., as it was originally known, was set up by Bill Cavanagh in Winsford, Cheshire, in the 1970s. The company grew to comprise Fallowfield Timber in Manchester and Macclesfield Timber in Macclesfield, before demerging in 1998. The Cavanagh family continued to trade as J Cavanagh Ltd. from the Fallowfield and Macclesfield depots, and while the original Cavanagh Timber continued to operate, but without any Cavanagh family input, it was later sold on to a builder's merchant group.
The Cavanagh family is now returning to Winsford, Cheshire, to open a new sales depot which will bring the Cavanagh tradition of quality, service and value back to North Cheshire where it all began.
